Menno van Rijn
Menno van Rijn is Managing Partner of B&W. His activities focus on helping clients achieve successful ’technology to market’ of emerging technologies and novel business models, driven by Open Innovation, new business development, user-centred design and entrepreneurship.
Menno joined B&W in 2003, and has worked with a wide range of clients – Fortune 500 companies, high-tech start-ups, world-leading academics – to plan, implement and finance the development technology and business, working in a multitude of disciplines, advanced materials, transport, life sciences, ICT and energy-efficiency in buildings.
He has an extensive track record in setting up and implementing successful R&D and Open Innovation collaborations and supporting companies in bringing technology-driven innovations to the market: guiding technology development, identifying new business opportunities, analysing potential markets, preparing business plans and market entry strategies, as well as doing hands-on on business development of new technologies.
Applying his knowledge on innovation and entrepreneurship to the public domain, Menno works for various public sector clients on issues such as technology transfer, sectoral innovation policy, and innovative clusters.
Menno graduated as MSc in Aerospace Engineering from TU Delft, with a specialisation in Production Technology. Before joining B&W, Menno gathered relevant industry experience working in the innovation department of Ferrari in Maranello (Italy) and the R&D department of Audi in Ingolstadt (Germany). Menno is multi-lingual (principally English, Dutch, Spanish and German, but also some Catalan and French).
