Open innovation around intelligent walls, ceiling & floors in consumer homes!

On 22 & 23 October, Bax & Willems and our innovation facilitating strategic partner Sunidee co-organized an Open Innovation session around the theme of interior walls, ceilings and floors.

Some 10 representatives from 9 different companies participated, ranging from huge chemical industry players to three-person sustainable architecture studio. During one and a half days, the participants were submerged in a highly structured yet very creative process targeted at ideas for business opportunities that could be exploited in collaboration between at least two participating companies. By Friday afternoon, two intiatives for follow-up sessions had been defined and participants expressed their strong positive perception of value added by the session and its facilitation process.

B&W and Sunidee have together developed a three step pathway to accelerate and intensify Open Innovation initiatives between companies, offering not only a well structured pathway that stimulates creativity, but also a well defined framework of initial openness step by step being substituted by increased confidentiality and exclusivity. We expect that our pathway can shave up to 50% off the average Open Innovation time to market, and can furthermore increase the amount of 'hits' obtained when screening potentially interesting shared opportunities.
