Social Housing companies innovating together with their value chain and their peers across Europe

Since quite a few years, one of the key focus areas of B&W is that of sustainable buildings and sustainable urban (re)development. Increasingly we are in this area encountering highly professional social housing companies, which often manage large quantities of dwellings. In Europe's EU27 member states, in total some 23,6 millons of Social Housing dwellings, representing 11,4% of the total dwellings of Europe, home of 8,5% of EU population. These dwellings represent a huge market opportunity to suppliers of innovative, cost effective and durable solutions for energy efficient refurbishment.

As B&W also is very well connected to the main players in the supply side of this fast growing and de-fragmenting value chain, we have found that we can really add substantial value by creating well-defined collaborations between the building owners, the solution suppliers and the often locally operating contractors. Which is exactly what we have been doing late 2009 and early 2010, securing milions of euros of funding and highly integrated multi-disciplinary teams focussing on a complete solution for a certain tipology of buildings.
